MAINE LEARNING RESULTS & TECHNOLOGY PLAN

Maine Technology Plan 1999-2002

Science and Technology
Standards and Benchmarks

Maine has not created a clear set of curriculum or standards to serve as guidelines related to the use information technology or 21st century skills. Those standards or benchmarks that do exist are embeded into the content area standards... and are left to local schools to formulate in terms of scope and sequence.

With their framework stablished between 1993-1996 the Maine Learning Results are outdated in terms of standards that related to current Information Technology standards and skills. School districts across Maine have used the following National Educational Technology Standards to create their framework for current "technology" skills curriculum and expectations. The example above (SAD 52) is one of the better efforts I have reviewed and it is an up to date effort (2007).
