VISUAL PROJECT: Choose something about your country which you discovered as you research on it or that you have had a long-standing interest in. Create a VISUAL ART to describe or explain it. Be creative and use two and three dimensional materials. Do NOT simply print out pictures from the Internet and put them on a poster.
FOOD FESTIVAL: Choose three recipes unique to your country that you think you might like to make. Do not limit yourself to one course of the meal. Take them home and with you parents choose one they will help you make. Parents are not to simply prepare the food for you. Have your parent sign the recipe or send a note showing they agree to this by Tuesday, November 17, 2009. Beware that some recipes may have unusual or expensive ingredients. You may not choose a recipe that has more than one tablespoon of an alcoholic flavoring.
You will make a regular family sized amount of this food to bring to a Europe Festival Night, much like you would bring something to a potluck dinner. ( You might want to practice it with your family over the Thanksgiving break.) You will need copies of your recipe and a label with the name of the food and the country it is from to put with it. Please bring your own serving utensils, labeled with your name; make sure your serving dish is also labeled with your name.
FESTIVAL ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. Festival will take place on Monday December 14, 2009; weather date_Wednesday December 16, 2009. Students should arrive at 5:30 p.m. to set up. Food will be served at 6:00. All parents and family invited. We are generally through and ready to go home by 7:00.
Practice schedules will be amended to accommodate this special event.
