Week of December 7th
This has been an interesting week with the weather and Christmas coming.
Some of the children have mentioned that they are using Spelling City.com to practice their spelling words. This is a fun way to learn their words weekly. This week we have practiced long o CVCe word patterns. Next week we will have long u CVCe words.
We are learning about dinosaurs and their habits. The story this week is The Big Circle which teaches the children how dinosaurs protect their young against enemies.
The children have learned about number scrolls and have created their own. They practiced their numbers all the way to 210! Patterns were noticed and different ways to create the scroll were discovered. We are ready for our unit 4 math test. You will receive the results next week.
Now that winter weather has set in and snowpants and boots are taking more time to put on, we find that the children have less time to eat their snack. Many are still bringing far too much to eat since lunch is served an hour later, and some are too full from snack to eat their lunch. Those that bring pudding or yogurt in a cup find it difficult to eat outside. It is hard to use a spoon with mittens on. It might be better to send in a granola bar or an apple which would be easier to handle.
Next week we would like to have an ornament share at morning meeting time. Your child may bring in an ornament of your choice to talk about. Please make sure the ornament is not too fragile.
Just a reminder that next week will be the Classy Crafters annual holiday sale. The prices range from 25 cents to $5.00. Our children are scheduled to visit for Holiday shopping. |
