SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
October 18, 2006


Board Members Present: Walter Kumiega, Jim Adams, Aimee Hunt, Mark Cormier, and Skip Greenlaw
at 5:46 p.m.
Board Member Absent: Joseph Babbitt
Staff Present: Penny Wendell and Robert Webster
Citizens & Guests Present: Greta Avis, Patti Diehlmann and Steven Diehlmann

1. Call to Order/Quorum
Chair Kumiega opened the meeting and declared a quorum at 5:35 p.m.

2. Moment of Silence
A moment of silence was observed.

3. Citizen’s Comments

There were no citizen comments

4. Approval of the Agenda
Motion by Cormier, second by Hunt, to approve the agenda as presented. Vote: 4 Yes; 0 No.

5. EXECUTIVE SESSION
Motion by Hunt, second by Cormier, to enter executive session on a student matter pursuant to 1 M.R.S.A. § 405 (5(B) at 5:36 p.m. Vote: 4 Yes; 0 No. Participants were Hunt, Cormier, Adams, Kumiega, Greenlaw, P. Diehlmann, S. Diehlmann, Avis, Wendell and Webster. The school committee returned to regular session at 6:07 p.m.

6. ACTION ITEM
A. A Student’s Enrollment Status
Motion by Cormier, second by Adams, to indefinitely table this student matter. Vote: 5 Yes; 0 No.

Webster distributed background information on a request from third grade teacher Judy Rhodes for ed. tech. support with her large class of twenty three students. The superintendent said he would advertise for an anticipated half time ed. tech. position. He also distributed copies of the report from the select panel on revisioning education in Maine called The Learning State: Maine Schooling for the 21st Century. The recommendations will be a discussion item at the November meeting.

7. Adjournment
Motion by Kumiega, second by Cormier, to adjourn the meeting at 6:15 p.m. Vote: 5 yes; 0 no.
